Product Design OS (Operating System)
The missing operating system for professional product designers
There are many articles and tutorials on how to use Figma, design methods, and design thinking. But how do you operate as an effective product designer? There is very little tactical advice that's geared toward how we craft and execute on a daily basis.
Product Design is a demanding job. You have to be creative in finding solutions. You should have good aesthetic taste to design a delightful experience. You also were good at problem-solving. A lot of things to learn!
When I worked for a big company like Shopify, I didn't know how to operate. I knew how to make a good design but wasn't an effective team member. I had no clue how to collaborate, scope, or present my work. I learned all the soft skills the hard way.
This handbook is about that. It's about how to operate in a messy reality. It's about how to handle your productivity, stress, and relationships. It's for product designers who want to become more well-rounded. The advice I'll be sharing here is going to be hyper-tactical. Sometimes, I'll provide a worksheet or tools to help you implement the tactics.
This handbook synthesizes the best ideas and wisdom from multiple fields to help you grow and operate effectively as a product designer.

Two person in the room. You may notice the difference. One act like an amateur. The other one think like a professional. What separates professionals from amateurs? This book is a synthesis to answer that question. A synthesis of observations. A synthesis of ideas. A synthesis of frameworks. These syntheses are for designers. It's for product designers who want to level up. Who want to grow. Who want to deliver. Use what's helpful. Adjust what's necessary. Reflect on what's resonate. None of the above? Move on.
